Come join cochlear-implant researchers from the greater D.C. and Mid-Atlantic regions!

The Mid-Atlantic Seminar on Hearing (MASH) is a 1.5 day conference that focuses on cochlear-implant research. This conference is open to all students, clinicians, and scientists to share their research, network, and meet others in the field. There will be short "chat talks" and active discussion. Researchers with “works in progress” on cochlear implants or areas relevant to cochlear implants are highly encouraged to present their current findings. Vocoder research is welcome. All are welcome to engage, discuss, share, and learn! If you wish to host a talk, or have further questions, please email Dr. Goupell at goupell@umd.edu.

Details About the Conference

1. We discourage formal talks and would rather have “chalk talks.” Thus, we’d like to see unpublished data, a few slides to get the discussion going, and more in your back pocket in case the group wants to look at more data.  In our minds, the discussion will be the most important part of this meeting. Length of talks will be decided by the number of interested speakers.
2. Relevance to broader clinical issues for basic research talks is highly encouraged.
3. Students and post-docs are highly encouraged to give the talks.
4. The conference to 1.5 days, all day Friday and the morning Saturday
5. A small fee for researchers ($50) will be requested; students attend for free. The fee will be collected at the beginning of the conference and be used to purchase food and beverages provided throughout the day (breakfast and lunch will be provided).
6. Directions and other details to follow.
