You are invited to participate in a research study on the benefits of post-cochlear implantation training. In partnership with Galluadet, a study has been developed to evaluate the effectiveness of training with adults who have received cochlear implants.  Specifically, we will assess two training programs to determine whether they can improve speech understanding and communication in daily life.

In order to participate you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have had your cochlear implant from 3 months to 3 years
  • Be fluent in English

What will I be doing?

  1. Pre-training assessment session completed at the University of Maryland Hearing and Speech Clinic.
  2. 6 weekly 90-minute training sessions at home or office conducted via the internet and telepractice software.
  3. One week post-intervention assessment session completed at the University of Maryland Hearing and Speech Clinic.
  4. Two months post-intervention assessment session completed at the University of Maryland Hearing and Speech Clinic.
