Your clinical maps are not changed, so there is no risk of losing or ruining them. In fact, there are no known risks for participating in most of our studies.  You may opt to participate in studies that involve computer tomography (CT) imaging, which would allow us to see the precise electrode location of your CI in your cochlea. These studies do not increase the risk from radiation exposure beyond a typical preimplantation standard-of-care CT scan.

You often learn a great deal about your own hearing skills in these studies.  We typically provide a travel allowance as well as free parking, and either a stipend or (for studies with young children) a toy or books.  For longer studies, we also provide a meal allowance.
